The Edge Center Gallery is helping you ‘Deck the Halls’ until Dec. 15 during the ‘Deck the Halls’ Holiday Gift Show and Sale. Be the first to see this season’s lovely offerings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first day, Nov. 7, or join the excitement at the Opening Reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. The quality is excellent and the prices are affordable. There will be artists, authors, and refreshments at the free Opening Reception, as well as a chance to buy unique hand crafted items made in the area.
This year there is an emphasis on home décor with beautiful rustic everlasting arrangements and wreaths by Pam Smith and Donna Johns. With John Zasada’s birch ornaments, Chris Rostvold’s felted acorns, and felted gnomes and birds by Denise Martin you can decorate your tree. Linda Barto, Native American artist from Nett Lake, has dream catchers and birch baskets. Zack Randa has decorated metal work that is also new to this exhibit.
Add a little art from ‘Deck the Halls’ to your gift list. Perhaps the beautiful jewelry by Lily Winter, Joyce Kraska or Native American jeweler Frank Barto will tempt you. Handknit fingerless gloves and socks by Joyce Kraska and knit items by Ann McGarry might be perfect for someone on your list. Sarah MacRostie’s cloth purses and blankets are new to the sale this year, and fabric purses and potholders by Kathy Champoux are again available.
Handmade soap is a tiny luxury and wonderful for tuck-in gifts. Books make thoughtful presents. The series of Frank Anselmo’s Ghost Lake Chronicles for children and We Homesteaded by James K. Knight are on sale at the Gallery. Mary Shideler’s book Mary: the Kayak Lady and her cards are available. Other unusual cards are also available.
Food is always a popular gift, so at the Edge Gallery you can find a variety of jams and wild rice, all hand harvested from close to home. Don’t be too surprised if you find things to also keep for yourself!
The ‘Deck the Halls’ Holiday Gift Show and Sale begins on Nov. 7 and continues through the performance of Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus on Dec. 15. The Edge Center Gallery is next to the Bigfork School and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and during Edge events.
