Busy Day for volunteers helping with Itasca Holiday Program

by Louise H. McGregor, staff writer

The Itasca Holiday Program is observing its 19th year of providing holiday for boxes to families and individuals in need and providing gifts to the children.

“Deer River has taken part in that program since 2000 or 2001,” said Kathy Thompson. “The first year Warren Goggleye was the organizer and I helped him out. The second year I didn’t take part in that effort, but then the third year I was asked to get things organized for distribution and I have been doing it ever since.”

The Itasca Holiday Program, which is a program of the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank Services, has eight distribution sites located at Bigfork School, Inger Community Center, Squaw Lake Community Center, Deer River Family Resource Center, Taconite Family Resource Center, Nashwauk Memorial Building, Hill City Food Shelf and the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank. The content you are trying to access is only available to members.
