Deer River High School graduation ceremonies will take place on Sunday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the High School Gym.
Valedictorian Kerrie Humble and Salutatorian Angelina Villeneuve will lead the class.
Humble is the daughter of Melvin Jr. and Pauline Humble.
When asked about her future plans, Humble said, “I have the honor of being the valedictorian of Deer River’s class of 2014, and plan to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in the fall. I plan to room with my best friend Maggie Swanson at Gustavus while pursuing my Baccalaureate degree in Psychology and English with a minor in Sociology and Anthropology. After undergraduate school, I have plans to complete my MSW (Masters in Social Work) right away in order to start my career as a social worker. Eventually, I would like to get my PhD in Psychology, also. I have many goals I plan to pursue alongside my academics and career involving children and teens as well, including volunteer work at shelters, youth centers, and fundraisers for the welfare of children and teens. A long term goal of mine that coincides with volunteer work is to eventually start my own foundation that focuses on creating recreational centers and safe houses for children and teens in need of a place they can go when they can’t go home. I have high hopes that I, one day, will be able to accomplish each of these goals with the help of the many people I have who have supported me throughout high school, and will, hopefully, continue to support me on the rest of my journey. ”The content you are trying to access is only available to members.
