Regina Schimek, a senior and member of the National Honor Society at Deer River High School, has been named one of the 200 State Finalists in the National Honor Society Scholarship from NASSP. These 200 NHS State Finalists were first chosen from among nearly 5,000 applicants. Each finalist receives a $1,000 college scholarship.
“Regina is an outstanding model of the four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Service. She embodies what it means to make a pledge to make a difference and uphold that pledge. Gina herself clocked close to 30 volunteer hours and participated in nearly every event that NHS did this year. She was so awesome!” stated advisor, Karen Teff. Participating National Honor Society chapters from across the country nominated at least two senior high members to compete in this year’s program. Finalists were selected on the basis of their leadership skills, participation in service projects and their academic record. As a finalist, Schimek is recognized as one of the top 200 NHS members in the nation this school year.
