The employees of Northern Star Cooperative have a long history of giving back to the communities they serve. On Thursday, July 10, the Deer River-based cooperative and its Cenex® branded retail location in northwest Minnesota will receive special recognition for its community-minded generosity. CHS has selected Northern Star Cooperative to receive the 2014 Cenex® Tanks of Thanks® Community Celebration. The CHS-hosted event is designed to reward and celebrate a Cenex retailer’s commitment to making a meaningful impact on the community and its residents.
Northern Star Cooperative was selected to receive the community event to recognize the company’s ongoing support of the Deer River community and its economic development. “We know our Cenex dealers and retailers are active in their communities and keep their customers at the heart of everything they do,” says Akhtar Hussain, CHS refined fuels marketing manager. “As part of the Cenex Tanks of Thanks program, we want to recognize the retailers who are making a difference for their customers and their communities.”
The Cenex Tanks of Thanks program recognizes and rewards well-deserving people who do good deeds in their communities, by sharing their stories online and entering them into a monthly drawing for free fuel. The program also rewards Cenex retailers that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the community.
“After reviewing numerous retailer nominations, we are pleased to announce that Northern Star Cooperative and its Cenex retail location in Deer River, will host the third annual Tanks of Thanks Community Celebration in July,” says Hussain.
