This spring, the number of Itasca County residents or business owners who had completed a survey about their access to broadband surpassed 1,000.
“We’re so excited to have reached this tremendous milestone,” said Trish Harren, Itasca County administrator. “Broadband access is key to this region’s vitality, and the sheer number of survey responses is an indication of that. Itasca County residents are clearly hungry for better broadband connectivity.”
While Connect Itasca’s online survey period has now concluded, comments can still be submitted through the initiative’s Facebook page. Survey responses are being used to create maps and web applications that demonstrate areas of need and interest throughout the county. This information will be shared with local Internet service providers. In addition, it will help better position the region to pursue state and federal broadband funding opportunities down the road.
