The Deer River Chamber of Commerce held their meeting on June 3 in the White Oak Inn and Suites meeting room.
Members present were Rick Hutchins, Shirley Matlock, Wayne Roskos, Dave DeLawyer, Jenna Nelson, Michelle Newburg, Leah Oslin, Matt Grose, Kayleen Monacelli and Teri Gullickson
The meeting was called to order by Roskos.
The May meeting minutes were reviewed and accepted, as was the treasurer’s report.
A thank you was received from Daniel Martin, the Chamber’s Bob Lundeen Scholarship awardee. Martin plans on getting experience in Alaska before heading to Vermillion for training in the field of conservation.
Nelson gave an update from the City of Deer River: She reported that the City has many copies of the Boating and Four Wheeling Regulations available.
The 2015 BBQ and BrewFestwas discussed. There were 11 Cooker Team entries, so far, with three more verbal commitments. The group has joined another cookers’ newsletter group. This is drawing interest to the event. They are planning for 1,000 sandwiches in addition to team “samples.” Karen Kaiser is the event volunteer coordinator. Grose offered to get the people needed to park cars.
