Life at Becky’s House

Ev’s Life at Becky’s House

by Becky Trudel

Each day began the same “How was your night?” The answer varied depending on legs hurting, can’t sleep or others in the house up. The “Old Lady in the Mirror” was happy to get her roll and coffee, and turn on the weather channel.

When Ev first came here in 2011, she had been having falls, and it was time to make some changes. Hard changes. Ev was fiercely independent and insisted she do all she could for herself, even up to the end. She absolutely hated asking for help. As most do, she had a rough time adjusting and grieving the loss of some of her independence. She was angry. Angry that her body couldn’t do what she wanted. Angry losing her apartment. Angry downsizing. I was the enemy. It took a while, but we settled into a routine, days became weeks then months then years. We became friends. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.
