Kelly A. Barrett, Wildlife Biologist, Chippewa National Forest
It was an amazing deer season, wasn’t it? One of those sorts of falls that we are seeing more of lately, where the weather holds pleasant incredibly late. Opening weekend found me sitting on my stand on our little farm in the Chippewa National Forest, dressed just heavily enough to stay comfortable. It was bucks only in my permit area, so as I sat that first morning, I watched the does pass and did not get too excited. But then at a distance, there was a buck. I fired too quickly, and missed him completely. He did not even jump as he walked on by. No second chance. The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.
