Counterfeit $100 bill passed in Deer River

On May 25, Deer River Police Officer Pat Richards was making the rounds to all Deer River businesses, showing them a counterfeit $100 bill that had been passed in Deer River. He wanted them all to take a look at it so they would know what to watch for if there are any others in the area.

According to Richards, someone had paid for items at a local business during a very busy time, and the business owner had not noticed that the bill was fake money. He made his usual deposit at a local bank, where it was later discovered that the $100 bill was counterfeit.

According to Richards, these fake bills can easily be purchased on line.
