Suellen ‘Suzi’ Cynthia Schjenken Ritchie

Suellen “Suzi” Cynthia Schjenken Ritchie, age 69, of Goodland, MN, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN.

Suzi was born October 19, 1948 to Norman and Norma Schjenken in Deer River, MN. She graduated in 1967 from Grand Rapids High school as a proud Indian and then attended secretarial school at Itasca State Junior College Vocational School. Suzi was united in marriage to Edward Ritchie on June 14, 1969 and they made their home in Goodland, MN where they raised four children. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Warba, MN.

Suzi found enjoyment painting, being in her flower and vegetable gardens, watching birds, bowling, and camping with her children. She loved fishing at Lake Winnie, ice fishing, and hunting with her boys. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially baking with her grandkids, and her loving husband Ed.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Norman and Norma; brother, Norman “Ted” Schjenken Jr.; sister, Cindyella Olson; sister-in-law, Nancy Schjenken; three brothers-in-law, Walter “Butch” Christie, Gale Grife, and Kenneth Olson.

Suzi is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ed; three sons, Shane (Shannon Taylor), Aaron (Vicky), and Wesley (Genny Simons); one daughter, Shona (Keith) Wohlsdorf; grandchildren, Mark, Krystle, Myles, Tanna, Sivannah and Shyla; great-grandchildren, Zack and Riley; four sisters, Virginia (Keith) Bundermann, Cherry Christie, Barb Grife, and Ramona (Doug) Roy; two brothers, John (Bella) Schjenken and Spencer (Alisha) Schjenken.

Visitation was Monday, January 22 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Warba, MN from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service. Rev. Mark Wagner officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Goodland, MN. A luncheon was held at the Goodland Community Center following the burial.
