Deer River City Council reconvenes on public annexation

By Patti Pfeifer, staff writer

The meeting began with the City of Deer River Annexation Public Hearing. The call to order was made by Mayor Steve Geving and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer led by Councilman Chris Reed.

Council members Wade Reed, Pat Richards, Barb Serfling, C. Reed, Public Works Foreman Jason Lundquist, Chief of Police Tammy Perry, City Attorney Andy Shaw and City Administrator Mark Box were present. The purpose of this public hearing was to continue discussion from the Jan. 9 meeting on the assessment of water and sewer services to the properties that are in physical contact with the city. The only two properties discussed for annexation at this meeting were the Church of God (Bible Church) and the assisted living facility owned by Dean Dixon. Shaw addressed the council with a request to adopt an ordinance to allow these properties to be annexed into the city. Shaw said, “The ordinance will be drawn up and presented to the council in February.”The content you are trying to access is only available to members. Sorry.
